Internet Marketing Explained and Made Easy

So what is the number one thing you need to know about internet marketing? This article will cover the very basics so you can get started with the right foundation and get closer to your goals of making money online.

Internet marketing is simply put, promoting a product or service online. It’s often referred to as digital marketing because it ties together the creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including design, development, advertising, and sales.

So what is it exactly are you going to offer your audience/customers? Once you have decided on the product or type of service to market, you will need a website. This is where you will need to decide if it’s something you can do yourself or outsource.

Most beginners are terrified when it comes to building their own website. If this is you and you don’t want to hire someone to do the job, there are other options available. For starters, there are templates you can purchase inexpensively that will get the job done or software that will allow you to get more creative.

You now have your product or service and a website to present your offer, so what’s next? Start by thinking about who your target audience is. Who are you helping with your product or service? Your marketing efforts will be wasted if your not targeting the right audience.

For example, you wouldn’t want to be pitching a “how to get pregnant” e-book to single men. Chances are your not going to sell any. Knowing who your target audience is will help you know better as to where to promote.

Always set out to provide value to your prospects and not just out to make a sale. When you have a good product or service that people want, it will sell itself. When you provide your customers value, you gain their trust to do more business with you in the future.

Once you have happy customers you can ask them to leave you testimonies which will only add to your credibility. People love to hear positive feedback before they make their purchases. This way your potential new customers will have some positive reviews about your product or service on the website and increase your sales conversion.

One tried and true tactic that most if not all internet marketers use these days is giving something away for free. You don’t have to give everything away. Usually a small sample or trial offer will suffice. It’s just a little something enough to leave them wanting more.

This approach is sometimes referred to as an ethical bribe but it also advertises your product as well. People love to try before they buy.

Now that you got them hooked (hopefully), it’s time to reel them in. You can seal the deal by offering an incentive to purchase from you. The incentive can be anything. For example, a 2 for 1, an extra month of service, or a related bonus product. The point here is to offer your customer some added value and not just some junk product that’s non-related.

You will develop a good relationship with your customers if you strive to always provide quality and value. People will always come back to value and sleazy car salesman are a dime a dozen.

Build your reputation as someone who is genuinely out for the best interest of their customers. Don’t be the sleazy car salesman who’s just trying to make a sale by telling the customer, “I’m not sure if I can make you the same deal tomorrow if you don’t buy now” or “this is the last one I got” when he has a dozen more just like it in the back lot.

Treat your customers first class by providing them with all the information they will need to know on how to purchase and what your guidelines are. This way there are no surprises or buyer’s remorse.

Always get feedback from your customers. Whether good or bad, the most important thing is to take heed to what they are saying. This is how you will know where and how to improve your product or service. In doing so, you are continuing the tradition of providing your customers with nothing but value.
